After collecting more than 200 crores in the 2 weeks, Chennai Express collected another 9.60 crores in the recently finished 3rd weekend. Movie’s collection in the 3rd weekend picked up as the weekend movie ahead. Before the 3rd weekend, Chennai Express had collected 200.50 crores in the 14 days. So after the end of 3rd weekend or 17 days, total box office collection of Chennai Express is 210.10 crores. Overall great 17 days for this masala entertainer at the box office.
Chennai Express 17 Days Week Total Collection Report
Chennai Express was released in more than 3,500 screens across India on 9 August. Before the release, movie had already collected 6.75 crores with paid previews. On the 9 August movie collected record breaking 33.10 crores. In just the first 3 days, Chennai Express cross the 100 crores mark. Movie ended up with collection of 156.60 crores in the 1st week.
The 2nd weekend for the movie started with the collection of about 12 crores. In the 2nd weekend, Chennai Express got tough competition from Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Dobara but as the weekend movie forward, Chennai Express improved its collection and OUATIMD dropped. Movie registered more than 25 crores in the 2nd weekend and more than 43 crores in 2nd week.
In the 3rd weekend, movie got the tough challenge from Madras Cafe. From the 3rd weekend we saw little drop in the collection. In the 3rd weekend, Chennai Express has done the business of more than 10 crores and now after 17 days or 3rd weekend, Chennai Express stands at 210.10 crores.
On its 17 day run at the domestic box office, Chennai Express broke number of records and most popular of them are nest collection on opening day (Ek Tha Tiger 32 crores) and best collection for a Bollywood movie in India (3 Idiot 202 crores).
Movie is still going well and expected to do well in this week also. The question is “how much will it finish with?”
